Congratulations Michael Cappuzzello and Isaiah Rush!

Service Award Winners

Face Forward received many impressive applications this year for the 2019 Service Awards and we are pleased to announce that Michael Cappuzzello and Isaiah Rush are this year’s Service Awards winners! Michael and Isaiah will each receive $500 from Face Forward and the Office of Vocations for their outstanding service to their parishes, their communities, and to others.

Michael Cappuzzello is an Altar Server and Master of Ceremonies in training at Our Lady Of Perpetual Help in Grove City, Ohio. Additionally, he helps teach incoming alter severs and introduces them to the routines. Outside of the Church, Michael enjoys volunteering at a local animal shelter and participates in food drives during the Christmas season. In his essay, Michael states, “Service is choosing to have the free will to be selfless to others, in which Jesus Christ was the ultimate example. That’s why I do service and follow closely in his footsteps.”

Isaiah Rush is actively involved at his parish, Church of the Ascension, in Johnstown, Ohio, where he is a Lector, Altar Server, and Eucharistic Minister. He also assists at the Fish Fries during Lent, and helps the Knights of Columbus with projects when needed. Outside of his parish, Isaiah helps out at a local thrift store called Angels Persist, a volunteer run organization that helps those struggling. He also spends time volunteering at Adaptive Sports Connection (ASC), a nonprofit, volunteer run organization that helps the disabled be able to participate in some sports throughout the year. Isaiah states, “Not only does service strengthen my relationship with Christ, but it also makes me feel good knowing that I have helped others do what they could not do without me being there. Helping others as Jesus asked us to do is what service means to me.”

Congratulations Michael and Isaiah, and thank you to all of the applicants who exemplify what it means to be a servant of the Lord at home, in the church, and in the community. Keep up the incredible work!
