The month of October is a great time to commit to praying the Rosary every day, as it is Month of the Holy Rosary. The observation is in conjunction with the feast day of the Holy Rosary on October 7, which celebrates the memory of the triumphant battle of Leptano, the most convincing military victory that proved the great power of the Rosary.
The Rosary will bring peace and holiness to your life and is the best method of honoring the beloved Mary. We know the Blessed Mother asked us to pray the Rosary at many of her apparitions. But why?
God loves us and wants us to be happy. The greatest source of happiness we can possibly have is through our relationship with God. Prayer is a great way to get in touch and communicate with God. We are not only talking to God in prayer, He is talking to us. Through our prayers, our relationship with God continues to grow and we become the people we are meant to be.
How do I pray the Rosary?
The Rosary is an effective prayer tool for you at any point in your spiritual life. There are various types of prayer: vocal, meditative and contemplative. The Rosary is a vocal prayer, which can lead to meditation and contemplation. Each bead on the Rosary represents a specific prayer. While holding the crucifix, recite The Apostle’s Creed. The larger bead represents the Our Father and the ten smaller beads signify the Hail Mary. You can sit and recite the entire Rosary in one sitting or simply complete a decade when you have a few moments. Each decade leads you to a meditation on one of the mysteries of Redemption.
Daily Rosary meditations are a peaceful way to grow your relationship with God. October is the perfect month to start your practice.
