As the year 2010 comes to a close, I wish to thank our audience out on Face Forward for your faithful support and participation in forming our new online community. Finding new and unique ways to communicate our messaging has been fun and exciting for our office this year.
The communities we have built, through technology as well as outreach to many youth ministries and schools, are strengthening our spirit and our call to serve. Whether that call is to the religious life, to serve your community with outreach, or to open your spirit to hear the Lord’s call each day, I know that we are forming a strong bond within the Catholic community in Columbus.
I encourage you to reach out to your friends and consider asking them to join our online community. The Office of Vocations has many opportunities in 2011.
Join our Face Forward community for daily messaging and updates, not just from theVocations office, but also from our Face Forward fans. They are an active bunch, with daily interactions from our seminarians, young people in grades 7th through college, and parents too! All are welcome to share!
Join us every Tuesday starting at 8:00 pm for Chat Tuesday, where we chat live with local Catholics who are members of our clergy and outreach community. Take the Weekly Quiz on Face Forward; send your favorite “someone” a Cyber High Five; or simply read the daily posts on the wall to stay in touch.
Visit www.seekholiness.com for detailed information about the discernment process.
Join us at our planned events for Vocations in 2011, which will include youth ministry presentations and festivals as well as events like the “A Night of Hope and Inspiration” with Newt and Callista Gingrich on January 28th, the Bosco Bash on January 29th, and Jesus Jams, among others. There is an action-packed calendar posted on the Face Forward wall. I will continue my weekly visits to parishes throughout the diocese and I hope to see you at these events in 2011.
Contacting the Office of Vocations is easy. I am readily available for an introduction, a quick cup of coffee, or a lunch at your favorite spot (I hear it’s Chipotle for those on Face Forward). Watch for regular communication from me through e-mail and the Face Forward wall.
As the New Year approaches and many consider what resolutions to adopt such as exercise more, lose weight or eat right, which are all great resolutions, I suggest a spiritual twist … try a weekday Mass once every week or two, spend a little time at Eucharistic Adoration or simply resolve to spend 5 minutes a day praying for vocations.
I wish you all a blessed Christmas.
